We are seeking a Primary Care Physician (H1B Visa candidates are eligible) to provide the full scope of primary care services to patients of Bowdoin Street Health Center, including but not limited to diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, preventive care and health maintenance, and coordination of care. Physician will generally have a focus on either internal medicine or family medicine.
Bowdoin Street Health Center (BSHC) is a hospital-licensed community health center located in the heart of the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood of Dorchester, MA. Founded in 1972 by local residents, BSHC has remained committed to providing high-quality, culturally sensitive, and linguistically appropriate care, while actively working with the community to address its unique health challenges.
The Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood faces significant social and economic disparities, with nearly half of residents living below the federal poverty level and many lacking consistent access to quality healthcare. BSHC plays a vital role in closing this gap, serving more than 11,000 patients annually from across Greater Boston.
BSHC’s diverse patient population is at elevated risk for chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and heart disease. Reflecting the community it serves, the health center’s clinical team delivers compassionate, patient-centered care in multiple languages, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
Bowdoin Street Health Center (BSHC) offers a comprehensive range of clinical services designed to meet the diverse needs of its community. These include Internal Medicine and Family Practice, Pediatrics, Geriatric Medicine, OB/GYN, Nephrology, Optometry, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Physical Therapy, and Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. To further support patient care and convenience, BSHC also features an on-site retail pharmacy. Beyond clinical services, the health center is deeply committed to community wellness, offering a variety of programs that promote health, education, and support for residents of all ages.
BSHC goes beyond traditional healthcare with its Wellness Center, offering free or low-cost programs such as:
Fitness classes (Yoga, Tai Chi, Line Dancing)
Cooking and nutrition classes
Chronic disease management
Community gardening

Candidate Requirements
D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
Successful completion of a residency program
Board Certified or Board Eligible
Valid license to practice medicine in the state of Massachusetts
Bilingual skills in Cape Verdean Creole are highly preferred.
Portuguese, Vietnamese or Spanish are also a plus
