Located in Danville, Virginia, our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serves a large rural population across Southside Virginia. We provide comprehensive women's health services and deliver obstetrical patients at SOVAH Health – Danville, the region's primary hospital for maternity care.
Our practice occupies a unique position within the service area. We are the only practice providing obstetrical deliveries for patients throughout Pittsylvania County and the surrounding region extending from Martinsville, Virginia, to Boydton, Virginia, with the exception of one private practice that accepts only commercially insured patients. As a result, we serve as the primary access point for maternity care for Medicaid, uninsured, and underserved populations across a broad geographic area.
The demand for obstetrical and gynecological services continues to be strong due to limited provider availability and significant barriers to access throughout the region. Our patient population includes individuals from rural communities who often travel substantial distances to receive prenatal and specialty women's healthcare services.
As a rural healthcare provider, we also serve a critical role in ensuring access to maternity care in an area where higher levels of maternal-fetal medicine facilities are not immediately available. The closest Maternal-Fetal Medicine facilities are located in Roanoke to the west, Lynchburg to the north, and Richmond to the east, making local access to high-quality obstetrical care essential for the health and well-being of mothers and infants.
This opportunity offers an incoming OB/Gyn the ability to develop a thriving practice with an established referral base, high community demand, and the satisfaction of making a meaningful impact on maternal and women's health in a medically underserved rural region.
