Waco Family Medicine is looking for a Director of Pharmacy Services to lead our pharmacy team.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Oversee and lead the organizational pharmacy operations of Waco Family Medicine, which currently includes:.
- Approximately 10 pharmacists and 25 pharmacy staff
- 3 entity-owned pharmacy locations
- Contract pharmacy relationships
- Clinic-administered medications and vaccines utilized throughout Waco Family Medicine clinics
- Develop business strategy to expand pharmacy services, including:
- Identify opportunities to attract and retain more pharmacy customers
- Identify opportunities to expand number of pharmacy locations
- Expand high-value specialty pharmacy services
- Optimize pharmacy financial performance, including:
- Monitor pharmacy productivity and financial metrics and implement strategies to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Optimize third-party payer reimbursement through effective billing practices
- Partner with financial and clinical leadership to ensure cost-effective use of vaccines and clinic-administered medications
- Ensure completion of annual inventory of all Waco Family Medicine pharmacies
- Improve performance of pharmacy staff, including:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to pharmacy staff, including pharmacists-in-charge, pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel
- Provide education and training to pharmacy staff on new medications, technologies, and best practices
- Foster an environment of outstanding customer service by the pharmacy team and actively identify opportunities to enhance the patient experience
- Perform as pharmacist when needed to ensure sufficient capacity and support pharmacy team
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy, 340B and related regulatory requirements, including:
- Facilitate regular audits of the 340B program and appropriate response to audit findings
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective dispensing of medications and improve operational efficiency
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory inspections, ensuring adherence to standards of practice and accreditation requirements
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care, such as the implementation of clinical pharmacy services
- Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in pharmacy practice and healthcare delivery
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Valid pharmacist license in the State of Texas. Minimum of 3 years of pharmacist experience, with leadership experience with the 340B program and/or in a federally qualified health center (FQHC) highly preferred.
