The Opportunity:
Peak Vista Community Health Centers, a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center based in Colorado Springs, CO, is seeking a collaborative and communicative leader to serve as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The Position:
The President and CEO’s primary responsibility is to ensure the operational, cultural and financial health of the organization. In addition, the CEO is expected to engage the community, building partnerships that support the center’s mission, and, in coordination with the Board of Directors (BOD), the CEO establishes the long-term goals related to growth, patient care, community impact, and financial sustainability, and guiding the organization toward fulfilling its mission. The CEO must be adept at monitoring, anticipating, and adapting to federal and state healthcare policy and funding trends and changes, so the organization can continue to deliver the healthcare needs of the community. The CEO must be a leader with both humility and conviction and must have high emotional intelligence to connect with a range of stakeholders. Diplomacy is highly valued in this role. It is preferred for the candidate to have experience with and a general understanding of labor relations, possess conflict resolution and negotiation skills in reaching collective bargaining agreements; and understand the process of resolving issues between unionized employees and management. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide inspiring and effective leadership while administering, directing, and coordinating all activities of the organization toward the fulfillment of its mission, strategy, and achievement of its long-term and annual goals and objectives.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Masters in Business Administration, J.D. or other advanced degrees in relevant field required.
- Fifteen (15) years of general healthcare management experience required, preferably in similar size budget and operation. Five (5) years’ experience in a senior management position with an FQHC or healthcare entity of similar size or larger scope and scale required. Prior CEO experience a plus.
- Certificates and Licenses: FACHE strongly preferred.
- Public policy, advocacy community involvement and public speaking experience are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in strategic planning, financial planning, and organizing work, managing time and meeting commitments.
- Demonstrated skill in fundraising and community awareness.
- Union experience preferred, including successful contract negotiations and fostering productive labor relations with physicians or provider unions.
The Organization:
Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a nonprofit 501(c)3 Community Health Center/Federally Qualified Health Center providing integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health services to approximately 74,000 patients in 24 clinics across the Pikes Peak and Eastern Colorado Regions.
The organization employees 411 staff for administration and operation. In addition, 334 professional health providers work for Peak Vista in the clinics across the region including medical doctors, dentists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistant. The organization has an annual operating budget of $112M.

Colorado Springs is in the east-central portion of the state. It is situated on Fountain Creek and is located 60 miles south of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. Colorado Springs is situated near the base of one of the most famous American mountains, Pikes Peak, rising over 8,000 feet above the city on the eastern edge of the Southern Rocky Mountains. The base salary range for this position is $360,000 to $430,000 with a 10% bonus incentive. In addition, this executive will be eligible for other benefits. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
